After almost a year of preparations Fantoche International Animation Film Festival in Baden (CH) starts next Tuesday 1st of September with the highly expected Swiss-German premiere of «Inside Out», the new pixar animation film.

This year the country focus is on Poland and its rich animation scene. Have a look at polish programmes here.

Another special focus is set on the family. Learn more about the programmes of «Family Sweet & Sour» here.

Like every year Fantoche is host to a wide variety of short animation films competing in three different sections: the International Competition, the Swiss Competition and the Kid’s Competition.

If however you are not in the mood for films and prefer to enjoy the festival atmosphere make sure to visit our exhibition at Stanzerei with animated installations by Sam & Fred Guillaume, Lukas Thiele and Maarten Isaäk de Heer. Also interesting are the «Historical Animation Devices» at the Galerie DoK, where you can learn about the Mutoscope, Praxinoscope, Zoetrope, Laterna magica and Stereoscope.

If you are new to Baden and want to discover the city in a playful manner, download the entertaining Urban Game «X-Giranimation» developed by Mela Kocher and Markus Rossé from the Zurich University of the Arts. You can download the game on the App Store or Google Play.

There’s a lot to see next week from Tuesday to Sunday in Baden. Don’t hesitate to drop by the festival office and say hello or ask for recommendations! 🙂
